A Journey into Stillness

Our silent meditation retreat will kick start your new normal where you live everyday aware, connected and energised.

It seems as if everything in the way we choose to live takes us away from ourselves. In a loud and distracting world with that feeling of being ‘too busy’, the noises, stress, anxiety…and this way of life then becomes our daily lived experience which we perceive as normal.

Break away from the distractions that keep us lingering on the shallow surfaces of the mind. The stillness of SILENCE is one way of getting there. And that’s the gift of this silent meditation retreat.

“Stillness is a place of compassion for all aspects of yourself, and that’s a reward that’s worth the journey.”

Shine a light on your inner self

Our do-able & accessible silent meditation retreat is a lot more diverse than you might think.

Our practice of meditation and its intention goes beyond relaxation. Observing your inner thought patterns can teach greater stress tolerance and emotional balance that lasts long after the retreat is over. True stillness removes the pressure of outside influences, allowing you to examine what really brings joy and meaning to your life.

This retreat is an opportunity to seek out stillness (and silence) and learn some beautiful meditation and mindfulness tools. It’s a totally different experience to our Inner Joy program. And you’ll explore silence and meditation with your quiet introspection.

We’ll guide you through meditations, talk about what meditation can actually be (it’s not just about being seated and drawing within!) including walking meditation, mindfulness activities and through yoga and nature connection.

Retreaters sit in meditation and silence

“True silence is a deeply personal experience that’s different for everybody; the truth is, there’s no way to know exactly what will happen once you’re alone with yourself.”

The silent retreat was an extremely relaxing & restorative experience, & because it's only 2 nights it was doable and accessible. A very nice mix of yin yoga, meditation, quick dip in the pool, and mindful nature walk. Best if you're open to some self-exploration and self-reflection, and open to learn a bit more about meditation. Loved my time and will be back.

Plan your 2-night journey into stillness

We hold the 2-Night weekend Journey Into Stillness retreat every weekend. You’ll commence Friday at 5pm and finish up on your final day at 11am –  giving you time to travel back home with some beautiful renewed insights into slowing down and having moments of stillness in every day life.

New to Happy Buddha is an opportunity to participate in our 2-Night midweek Journey into Stillness retreat held weekly from May 18. You’ll commence on Wednesday at 5pm and finish up on the Friday at 11am – giving you the chance to take time to decompress from your experience over the weekend or you may even want to add on a weekend retreat to further deep dive into stillness.

Throughout Journey into Stillness, you will explore total silence for most of the program however there will be opportunities for some discussion and interaction too.

The accomodation for Journey Into Stillness is in our retreat house, separate to the retreat centre. Our Happy Buddha House is a friendly communal space with newly renovated twin-share rooms. The bathrooms are clean, shared facilities. The kitchen is home-style and we’ll be preparing your nourishing, vegetarian meals. Other communal areas include our lounge area with a toasty fire-place and a small dining room for meal time and for relaxing. Our beautiful yoga balcony, located next to the house, is our meditation and workshop space.

A retreater meditating in silence in the Blue Mountains

A Silent Meditation Retreat can feel a little challenging as there’s that uncomfortable feeling of sitting still and being silent. And we don’t realise how we will feel until we completely stop. Even if your mind takes over and tells you it’s too hard, or not for you, the key to a Silent Meditation Retreat is to trust the process.

The beauty of this retreat is that meditation comes in many forms, including seated and silent, during guided yoga nidra, within the long, juicy hold of yin yoga and walking in nature.
