Consider this your official Happy Buddha love note 💌.
Once a month, we share inspiration from our Happy Buddha Retreats crew — exploring themes of yoga, life, and joy. This edition comes from the Khanh ~ one of our beloved crew and long-time friend of Happy Buddha.
It all starts with a YES.
Back in 2011, I was excited when Athil, the owner of Happy Buddha, asked me to volunteer at a cosy retreat weekend he was running from a holiday house in Killcare.
Little did I know that one simple YES would spark a whole chain of adventures that shaped who I am today.
“Hey Khanh, our chef is sick. Can you cook for this retreat?”
I had no idea what I was doing, but YES, I’ll try!
“Hey Khanh, do you want to teach a yoga class this morning?”
Wait… I’m only just certified… but YES, let’s go!
“Hey Khanh, do you want to help facilitate some retreat activities?”
You really think I can? Then YES, let’s see what happens!
Those YESes weren’t from pressure (well… maybe just a tiny bit 😅), but from feeling deeply touched that someone trusted me enough to start before I thought I was ready. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
That trust planted seeds that grew into so many beautiful paths — from retreat and private event catering, to facilitating nourishing cooking workshops, teaching yoga, and creating sound-bath experiences.
And still today, I keep saying YES.
Sometimes that means setting loving boundaries. Sometimes it’s trusting that life only brings me adventures I’m ready for.
Maybe your next Happy Buddha Retreat is your YES —to self-care, self-discovery, and the magic that unfolds when you say it.
Let’s find out together!
Warmly,
~ Khanh
