Musings from the Mountains: The powerful mirror of breathwork

Consider this your official Happy Buddha love note 💌.

Once a month, we share inspiration from our Happy Buddha Retreats crew — exploring themes of yoga, life, and joy. This edition comes from the Gil ~ one of our cherished crew members and facilitator of the Breathwork Retreat.

When I think about my time here at Happy Buddha, the word that comes to mind is community. There’s something so special about being surrounded by people who are open to growth, connection, and new ways of seeing themselves.

I arrived here after a winding path through different careers and travels, always searching for something that felt real. And what I discovered was not only a supportive environment, but also a place that constantly invites me to expand. Living here has given me the chance to teach, to learn and to share breathwork in ways that feel deeply alive.

Breathwork itself is a powerful mirror.

It shows us what we hold on to, what we can release, and how much potential is waiting just beneath the surface. But what makes it truly transformative is when it’s practiced in community ~ when we breathe together, we remember that we’re not alone in this journey.

Happy Buddha has become that reminder for me. Every retreat is a gathering of strangers who often leave feeling as if they’ve become friends. Every circle is an invitation to share, witness and grow. And every breath is an opportunity to come home to ourselves.

So if there’s one thing I’ve learned here, it’s this: growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It blossoms when we’re held in community ~ when we’re supported, encouraged, and reminded that we belong.

With gratitude and a big deep breath,
~ Gil
