“Wonderful weekend Yoga retreat at the Blue Mountains. First time experience for a beginner yogi! Beautiful bushland, grounded location, casual feel, caring and skilled volunteer staff. First time for mediation, yoga and also drumming!!! Very nurturing environment and one I would highly recommend for those considering a retreat. Easy drive or train ride from Sydney. Thanks Happy Buddha..”

"Whilst sitting in extended silence, stillness and solitude during a silent retreat in the Blue Mountains, I was confronted with what the process of healing looks like vs what it is. The experience was challenging, but ultimately exactly what I needed at this point in time. During free time, I was out in nature, exploring waterfalls, contemplating and journalling. Here are a few snippets of wisdom that resonated with me: ⛅️
'We already have everything we need. There is no need for self-improvement. All these trips that we lay on ourselves—the fearing that we’re bad and hoping that we’re good, the identities that we so dearly cling to, the rage, and the jealousy—never touch our basic wealth. They are like clouds that temporarily block the sun. But all the time our warmth and brilliance are right here. This is who we really are.' Pema Chödrön.
'This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.' Rumi.
'Meditation is not a matter of trying to stop thinking or make your mind go blank but rather to realize when your attention is wandering and to simply let go of the thoughts and begin again. It is a way of changing our relationship to our thoughts, so we’re not so consumed by them. It helps us get better at seeing the difference between what’s happening and the stories we tell ourselves about what’s happening, stories that get in the way of direct experience.' Sharon Salzberg.
A big thankyou to Arc, who held space for us so beautifully... My gratitude extends to the amazing humans who embarked on this journey beside me. I wish you all the best for wherever this life takes you. ♥️ ☀️ 🌊
A recipe from the gorgeous Yara ~ and it possibly could result in the best brownie you've ever baked 🥰
Yara’s Brownies 🌸
Dry Ingredients:
1 cup raw sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
1 cup self-raising GF flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
Pinch salt
Wet Ingredients:
1/2 cups vegetable oil (rice bran)
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup soy milk
2 TBSP ground flax seeds mixed with 2 TBSP water, leave for 5 mins to ‘set’
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 180C. Line a smaller baking tray with baking paper
2. Whisk all dry ingredients together.
3. Whisk all wet ingredients together.
4. Combine with a spatula, being careful not to over-mix.
5. Bake for approximately 30 mins (checking for ‘doneness’ with a toothpick or cake tester) and leave to cool for about 1 hour.
6. Slice up in desired portions
7. Serve with options like chocolate frosting, berry sauce, or enjoy as is!
This adjusted retreat recipe should yield approximately 10-12 servings in a tray.
Namaste!
