This retreat is for those looking to venture beyond comfort zones; to find inner calm, soak in nature, and make memories along the way.

We’ve intentionally interwoven all good things: yoga, nourishing meals, and group connection… with a 2-day bushwalk through the stunning Blue Mountains. Amongst majestic views and fresh mountain air, we invite you to unwind and forge connections — with yourself, fellow adventurers and of course, Mother Earth.

If you guessed already, this isn’t your typical retreat! It’s a deep dive into the shared human experience, and a chance for a profound reset. Amidst laughter, quiet reflection, and unforgettable moments; you’ll be embarking on a profound inner journey… surrounded and supported by nature.

 

Are the mountains are calling?

The Bushwalk

For the bushwalking element of this retreat, we’ll be embarking on the recently opened Grand Clifftop Walk in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

DAY ONE: Following yoga and a delicious breakfast, the group will be transported to the trailhead at Wentworth Falls village. From there, we’ll begin our journey into Blue Mountains National Park via Darwins walk. Following stunning heritage trails, we’ll admire Wentworth Falls, pass under overhanging cliffs, and stroll through the picturesque town of Leura. We’ll stop half-way for a nutritious picnic lunch, before concluding the day’s walk at Gordon Falls.

DAY TWO: Continuing from where we left off, we’ll traverse cliff-edge tracks with breathtaking views of the Jamison Valley. After a light morning tea; our path will lead us past Buttenshaw Bridge, past captivating waterfalls, numerous lookout points, and the iconic Three Sisters. Our journey will culminate in Katoomba, where we’ll be picked up for a final closing circle.

Please note: This is a grade 3 bushwalk, spanning a total of 19 km. On day one, we’ll cover approximately 11km, and on day two, 8km. While retreaters do not require any bushwalking experience, the distance we’re covering does have many steps and short, steep sections. Feel free to contact us, if you’re unsure.

The Accommodation

You’ll be staying in private or twin-share accommodation in our communal house. Bedrooms are simple, cosy and clean — bathrooms are shared. All yoga will take place indoors, in our very special verandah studio.

Program Overview

Each day will be interspersed with delicious vegetarian meals, bushwalking and gentle yoga. In your free time, cosy up with a book next to our fireplace or find your inner peace in our relaxing meditation / quiet space.

 

 

Arrival Day 1 - Friday

6:00pm
~Official Check-in

Arrive at Happy Buddha Retreats. Settle in, enjoy a cup of tea, and meet fellow retreaters.

7:00pm – 8:00pm
~Dinner

Enjoy a nourishing vegetarian meal together.

8:15 pm – 9:00 pm
~Welcome circle and YOGA.

A gentle yin class to soothe and warm up muscles for the day ahead.

9:15 pm:
~Time for a good night’s rest.

 

Day 2 - Saturday

6:00 am – 7:00 am
~ Wake

Enjoy a sleep in, catch the sunrise, or quietly zen out in the Zen Den.

7:00 am – 07:45 am
~ Gentle Yoga

A dynamic yet gentle 45-min group practice to prepare your body for the journey ahead.

08:00 am – 9:00 am
~ Breakfast

Indulge in an energising breakfast with fellow retreaters.

9:15 am
~ Get Ready to Walk

Meet at reception for a ride to the trailhead (Wentworth Falls).

9:30 am – 12:30 pm
~ Begin your walk

Begin the official first leg of our trail! This will involve a (approx.) 3hr, 6km walk at a deliberate yet enjoyable pace.

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
~ Lunch
Enjoy a bush picnic, with a view.

1:30 pm – 4:30 pm*
~ Continue

Continue on with the second and final leg of the day. Approx 5km, over 3 hrs. Once the group arrives at Gordon Falls (Leura), pick up and return back to Happy Buddha Retreats. *Approximate time. May be earlier or slightly later, depending on group pace.

4:45 pm* – 5:45 pm
~ Free Time

Freshen up back at Happy Buddha. Enjoy optional tea-time with some light dips/snacks. Sit by the fireplace.

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
~ Dinner Time
Enjoy a well deserved dinner.

7:15 pm – 8:15 pm
~ Gentle Yoga
Wind down for the day with Yoga Nidra.

8:30 pm
~ Return to your room for rest and recovery time!

Final Morning - Sunday

6:30 am – 7:30 am
~ Breakfast
Enjoy a nourishing early morning breakfast.

7:45 am
~ Your Sunday Walk Begins

Meet at reception for a ride to the next trail head (Leura).

8:00 am – 12:00 pm
~ Start Your Walk
Start the journey to Katoomba! This will involve a 4 hr (approx) 8km walk. Half way through, we’ll provide light snacks for morning tea. Taking a deliberate yet enjoyable pace, we’ll end our walk at the trail conclusion.

12:15 pm – 1:00 pm
~ Closing circle and reflection time.

The Cost

Consider this a well-deserved gift for yourself (or a lucky loved one!). Costs are $399 per person, based on twin-share accommodation. That includes:

  • 2.5 days, 2-nights of accommodation
  • Fresh vegetarian/vegan breakfast and dinner prepared lovingly from local produce
  • Nourishing morning yoga classes (yoga mats and props provided)
  • Group hiking in Blue Mountains National Park
  • Picnic lunch and morning tea
  • Evening wind down yoga

Peter Smith

Meet Your Facilitator – Peter Smith

We’re excited to announce that Peter Smith will be our facilitator and trail guide for this retreat. Peter brings a wealth of experience, having regularly led our Inner Joy and Silent Retreats. He is certified by the Victorian Bushwalking and Mountaincraft Leadership program, and passionate about providing safe and enriching outdoor experiences. As an avid nature enthusiast and experienced communicator, Peter has also guided tours along the Great Ocean Road, and through the diverse ecosystems of Kakadu National Park. All this to say; you’re in for an unforgettable guided adventure with Peter at the helm.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for everyone from all walks of life. The walk we’ll be doing is a Grade 3 walk. The track is well-formed and clearly signposted, and you don’t need any bushwalking experience. However, it is worth noting that the 19 kilometres of terrain (which we’ll be covering over two days) does have many steps and short, steep sections up and down.
